Upper Deck stands by Tiger Woods, won’t end deals (Reuters)

CHICAGO, Dec 15 (Reuters) – Trading card and memorabiliacompany Upper Deck said on Tuesday that it would not end itssponsor deals with Tiger Woods, who has admitted to maritalinfidelity and has had other sponsors back away from him as aresult.
The company said it stood by the world’s No. 1 golfer, whoon Friday said he was taking an “indefinite break” from progolf.
“Upper Deck will maintain its exclusive agreement withTiger in both our sports cards and memorabilia categories, andwe look forward to his eventual return to the PGA Tour,” UpperDeck Chief Executive Officer Richard McWilliam said in astatement. “Tiger and his family have our full support.”
Woods has served as an exclusive spokesman and autographsigner for Upper deck since 2001.
Woods, 33, last week admitted to “infidelity” in hismarriage to his Swedish wife Elin Nordegren as allegations ofmultiple extramarital affairs rocked his life and career. (Reporting by Ben Klayman; Editing by Lisa Von Ahn)
