McIlroy wins 1st PGA Tour event in style

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (AP)—Rory McIlroy has won his first PGA Tour eventin record style.
The 20-year-old from Northern Ireland rolled in a 40-foot birdie putt on thefinal hole Sunday to set the course record with a 10-under 62 and win the QuailHollow Championship.
McIlroy, who celebrates his 21st birthday on Tuesday, becomes the youngestPGA Tour winner since Tiger Woods in 1996. And he is the first player in fouryears to win after making the cut on the number.
The finish was unforgettable. McIlroy played his final five holes in 5under, including a 5-iron to 3 feet for eagle on the 15th hole that gave him thelead for good. It was the second victory of his young career, and his first inAmerica.
