LOCH LOMOND, Scotland, July 10 (Reuters) – The Scottish Openfeels like a home from home for Australian Adam Scott and hisfondness for the spectacular banks of Loch Lomond was underlinedwhen he fired a four-under-par 67 in Friday’s second round.

“This is a beautiful place and the course is great,” he toldreporters after his nine-under total of 133 pushed him withintwo strokes of early leader Retief Goosen.

“I feel really comfortable here. It’s a lot like a course(Hope Island) I grew up playing in Australia.”

Scott said Loch Lomond’s wide fairways suited him down tothe ground.

“It is very generous off the tee which can actually improveyour driving. You’re going to hit a lot of fairways so you get alittle confidence,” said the 28-year-old from Adelaide.

“Two rounds in the 60s is very good for me. My ball-strikingis there again and it feels really good the way my game is atthe moment.”

Scott spent a long time ranked in the world’s top 10 andbecame the youngest winner of the ‘unofficial fifth major’, thePlayers Championship in Florida, when he lifted the trophy in2004 at the age of 23.

He has won all around the globe but has struggled to make animpact in the four majors, with his best performance a tie forthird in the 2006 U.S. PGA Championship.

“I spent a lot of years trying to pinpoint why I don’t playmy best golf in the majors and I haven’t figured that one outyet,” said Scott, who is being watched this week by histennis-playing partner Ana Ivanovic.

The world number 43 said he was excited about playing innext week’s British Open at Turnberry.

“I love the British Open, love that style of golf, it’screative,” said Scott.

“I played at Turnberry on Tuesday and it’s fantastic. I putit up there with Muirfield as my favourite Open venues.

“It’s going to be tough but I like my chances,” added Scott.“You have to hit a lot of different shots which we don’t get achance to do that much any more.

“I just want to go out, have fun and enjoy playing someususual shots.”
