BRIEF-Golf-Thailand’s Thongchai voted Asia’s top player (Reuters)

SINGAPORE, Dec 14 (Reuters) – Thai golfer Thongchai Jaideehas been voted Player of the Year by his peers on the AsianTour after winning an unprecedented third order of merit title.
The 40-year-old won twice on the tour in Indonesia andSouth Korea to boost his career tally to a record 12 Asiantitles, and made three other top-10 finishes and every cut inanother rock-solid season.
“Thongchai has raised the benchmark,” the Asian Tourexecutive chairman Kyi Hla Han said in a statement on Monday.India’s C. Muniyappa won the Rookie of the Year title.
