BRIEF-Golf-Montgomerie withdraws from European Masters (Reuters)

GLENEAGLES, Scotland, Aug 30 (Reuters) – European Ryder Cupcaptain Colin Montgomerie has withdrawn from next week’sEuropean Masters in Switzerland, the event which launchesEurope’s year-long Cup points campaign.
“I need a week to recharge my batteries but I will avidlytune in to all the coverage as the race for Ryder Cup pointskicks off,” Montgomerie said in a statement from his managementcompany after completing his final round at the Johnnie WalkerChampionship in Gleneagles on Sunday.
